De La Salle University finally sealed their place in the Final Four at the expense of National University in a 68-56 rout during Saturday’s University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 men’s basketball at the Araneta Coliseum.

After falling short in their bid for a berth in the round of four three days earlier against University of the East, 66-68, the Green Archers made sure that they would finally get the job done in their last clear attempt.

Staring down at a 31-all halftime scoreline, De La Salle turned to their hefty big men Jason Perkins and Norbert Torres to deliver the goods in the shaded lane to overcome the Bulldogs.

Perkins scored all of his eight points in the second half, while Torres put up 13 markers in the contest to aid the Green Archers in building an 11 point advantage, 55-44, to put the game out of reach.

Leading their cause was Almond Vosotros with 15 points, while Arnold Van Opstal added 14 points and six rebounds.

Gelo Alolino put up 18 points, followed by Troy Rosario’s 14 markers for the Bulldogs.

De La Salle sets up a date with Far Eastern University in a virtual best-of-three Final Four showdown starting Sunday, September 21, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

NU, on the other hand, will keep a close eye on the University of the East-University of Santo Tomas clash on Tuesday to see whether they would have to face the Red Warriors for a playoff for the number four seed on Thursday.
